2017 Schedule of Events 

December 16-17th & December 22&23rd

It’s Christmas Time at the Ranch! Come on out to the Clubhouse for some cookies and punch, make ornaments and reindeer food. Each child will get a 5 minute pony ride! Special Guest – SANTA! Cost is $10 for each child. Please call in advance to reserve your spot as space is limited! Times are 2-4pm each day.

Join us for a weekend of friendship and fun while working on the trails and common areas of the ranch! With over 2000 private acres we have a lot of trails to keep up and new ones to get marked! “Colt Starting with Lynn Semingson” ($)

April 6-8th

Got a new colt to start? Just need to tune up Nelly or Chester for summer riding? We got just the thing! You can bring your colt and/or any of your horses that may need a tune up or needs help with a problem and we will help you get them started the right way! Lynn started breaking horses at the age of 14. He has over 40 plus years of experience and a way with horses that makes him one of the best! Even if you can’t bring your horse you can come watch and learn! Now don’t worry about it being Easter weekend! We are planning on a cowboy church service on Sunday Morning and an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday! Our Rustics hold up to 6 people so bring your family or a group! Stalls and lodging are extra for this event. Reserve early as spots are limited and will fill up fast! Contact the ranch at 740-767-2624

“Advanced Cowgirl Bootcamp” ($)

April 12-15

IT’S FINALLY HERE! By popular demand, the long-awaited Advanced Cowgirl Boot Camp is here! Here’s to the girls who can pretty much fix anything with bailing wire and duct tape! Join us for the chance to test old knowledge and to learn something new. We’ll be hitting the trails, roping, cow working, mounted shooting, pistol shooting as well as dabbling in the finer things in life like wine tasting at a local winery, shopping in the local area and time at the pool. Whether you’re an old pro or new to the scene, there’ll be plenty of great opportunities for everyone! Agenda to be announced! Price is $350 per cowgirl which includes instructors for all the events listed above, transportation to events off site, dinner 3 nights, wine tasting, shooting supplies and stalls for your horse! It DOES NOT include lodging for yourself or use of a Smoke Rise horse (but they are available to rent for the event!) Agenda to be posted later depending on expected attendance! Make your reservations today!

“Kentucky Derby/Straight Away Racing” ($)

May 5-6th

Calling all Cowboys, Cowgirls and Southern Belles! Join us as we celebrate an old Kentucky tradition while adding our own special Smoke Rise Twist! We will have Hat decorating and Cocktails on Friday Night, Strait Away Racing on Saturday with Gaited (Pacing and Racking), Quarter Horse, Mule, Pony and Stick Horse! At 4 PM we will open up the Clubhouse to view the Derby Race on the Big Screen and enjoy all things KY – Bourbon Tasting, Mint Juleps, Food, hat contest. A schedule of events for the weekend will be posted at a later date, as well as a show bill! RESERVE YOUR CAMPSITE NOW! Cost for Clubhouse event is an additional $25 per adult over 21, $15 ages 13-20, 12 and under are free (includes food, beverage, band) Admission to view the races and participate in the Derby Parade is free.

“Best of America by Horseback” ($)

May 18-19th

Please join us as we welcome back Tom Seay, Kristen Biscoe, and the entire staff of Best of America By Horseback to the ranch! Smoke Rise is a 2000 acre working cattle ranch located in Glouster Ohio, in the heart of the Wayne National Forest and theTrimble Wildlife Area. Ride on filmed trail rides, enjoy a banquet meal and live band on Saturday night. We will have a welcoming reception and cowboy campfire/ sing along (bring your guitars!) on Friday night. There will be clinics, demos and seminars throughout the weekend. Our Chuckwagon vendor will be selling breakfast and lunch sandwiches throughout the weekend!

“Memorial Day Weekend” (Cattle Weekend)

Come join us for the weekend! A detailed event list will be posted closer to this event and will also be available at the office. We have planned a cattle roundup, doctoring, banding and breakaway roping. Open sorting, cow working clinic, Poker Run (horses) and a potluck dinner. We hope you can join us at the ranch. Remember the pool is open and the water is cold.

“6 Days in the Saddle- Ohio Adventure Weekend” ($)

 Sit Back and Enjoy the Ride! Let Smoke Rise Ranch and Resort plan your next horse trail riding adventure in Ohio! Our Wranglers will guide you to some of the best riding and meals in the Hocking Hills Region! Enjoy the Wayne National Forest, Trimble Wildlife Area, Hocking Hills State Forest, Zaleski’s State Forest and our own 2000 private acres! Then let’s just throw in our famous CATTLE DRIVE to spice things up! This ride is for those serious trail riders who want to spend 6-8 hours a day in the saddle! Each day we will pick a different trail and a different adventure! Each night we will enjoy the local venues, including Rocky Boot Outlet and Hocking Hills Winery.

“Overnight Ride” ($)

Get your camping gear ready and saddle up!
Package includes a 3-hour ride to camp where your gear will be waiting for you, a great dinner cooked over the campfire, and breakfast in the morning before a 3-hour ride back to the office. The ride to the campsite leaves the office at noon on Saturday.

Please join us as we celebrate Independence Day! We will have events all weekend beginning on Friday and ending on Wednesday! Cattle Roundup, Breakaway Roping, Sorting Clinic, Open Sorting, horse parade in Murray City, Pot Luck Dinner, Fireworks in Murray City, Fun Show! Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit for the pool! Come on out to the ranch and help us say Goodbye to Summer and Hello to fall! Lots of events planned for the entire weekend! Starting with our Cattle Roundup at 1 PM on Friday – This event is FREE to guests of the ranch! Not staying at the ranch but want to help us round ’em up? $10 fee for non-campers! Drive will be followed by doctoring and banding and ranch breakaway roping! We’ll have a sorting/cow clinic, and competitions, DJ with a dance and campfire on Saturday and Sunday night, POTLUCK dinner on Saturday night with the ranch supplying the main course! As always, the pool will be open, we have rustic and fully furnished cabins available and campsites with W/E hookups! Rental horses available!
